There are a lot of lessons we can learn from our founding father, George Washington.  Primarily, one of the biggest reasons why he was so revered, is because he had a lot of qualities that many of should strive to have and do as well or attempt to do as well as George Washington.  First, if you are in a sales or any type of profession, we all have uniforms in what we do.  If you take a look, if you are students of history, George Washington was always very well dressed.  He was congruent in the way he looked; everything flowed about him.  Perfect example, if you wear a watch that is yellow gold and you have a belt buckle is silver; it looks funny because it doesn’t match.  Make sure that what you wear flows correctly, you look nice, clean.  Your shirts are ironed, your pants are ironed.  You are wearing the uniform that fits your job and you can proudly walk into any place and people associate you with or have a sense that they should respect you from not only your appearance, but from the way you talk and communicate with everyone. Whether you are in sales, an attorney, a doctor, or whatever it is that you may be.  People have a lot more confidence in you and who you are dealing with when you have an appearance such as George Washington., who was well groomed, well pressed, and well spoken.  We should all strive to do that on a daily basis.

Since we are paying reverence to Mr. Washington today, we should also learn some other things.  He taught us to persevere; when you are down in the face of defeat, you can still be dignified and have the courage and strength to move forward.  We do that in sales, and we do it in business life.  We can hold our heads up high and not only do we look the part, we act the part, and we become the part; just as our buddy Mr. Washington has done and did do.  He taught us to have the intelligence to be civil.  He wrote a book when he was only fourteen called The Rules of Civility.  We should all give our fellow humans the respect and dignity that they are worthy of.  Some people deserve a little more and some deserve a little less, however, it is incumbent upon us as humans to treat everyone in a very nice, cordial manner; and to do it more often than not.  Of course I do understand that every now and then you do have to put a little tad bit of nastiness in there because  we do live in a world of men, and sometimes these men really are in the jungle, have the mindset of being in the jungle.
